Privacy Policy for Capitas

Capitas is a daily trivia game about the members of the United States Congress. This page explains what information the app collects and how it's used. In short: very little, and nothing that identifies you personally.

What we collect

Category suggestions. If you use the "Suggest a category" feature, we store the category you selected (or the text you typed for "Something else…") along with the time you submitted it. This is not linked to your name, device, or any account — there is no account system in Capitas.

Notifications. If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled entirely on your own device. Nothing about this is sent to us or to any third party.

Nothing else. Capitas has no login, no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking software of any kind. We don't know who you are, and we don't try to find out.

Third-party services

Category suggestions are stored using Firebase (a service provided by Google). Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Photos and biographical details of members of Congress come from public official sources: bioguide.congress.gov and the open-source unitedstates/congress-legislators project. This is public government data, not information about you.

Children's privacy

Capitas is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Data retention

Category suggestions are kept as anonymous product-feedback data to help decide what to build next. If you'd like a specific submission removed, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
